Knox County Charter Questions
Broadcast Date: October 19, 2008

Early voting began this week for the November 4 election. While the presidential race is the big attraction, two charter questions on the ballot in Knox County are getting a lot of attention. The two questions lump together several changes to the charter.
Question 3 is about the legislature, reducing the size of county commission from 19 to 11 and making it illegal for members of the commission to work for the county.
Question 4 is about the executive branch. It gives the county mayor the power to appoint what are now elected positions -- the trustee, clerk, register of deeds and law director.
To debate that are two guests with opposing viewpoints. Representing the group Citizens Committed to Saving our Right to Vote is Frank Leuthold. From the group Knox Charter Petition is Laurens Tullock.
In the final segment, 6 News political analyst George Korda and public relations executive Mike Cohen continue the discussion about the charter questions.
