Spiking Gas Prices and Slumping Stock Market

For several days, Knoxville and much of East Tennessee had the highest price for a gallon of gasoline in the nation. At one point, gas was selling for more than $5.00 a gallon, while much of the rest of the country was well below that number. The president and CEO of Pilot Travel Centers, Jimmy Haslam, explains how the price spike happened and why the price later dropped quickly back down below below $4.00 a gallon.
With financial markets in chaos, many people wonder how it all will impact us. UT economist Dr. Bill Fox joins Gene Patterson in the second segment to help sort it out.
