Conservative firebrand State Rep. Frank Nicely (R - Strawberry Plains) joins Gene Patterson to talk about a number of issues facing lawmakers in Nashville, including the guns in parks bill that Nicely sponsored.

Then, Knox County commissioners Mark Harmon and Brad Anders debate the issue of take home cars. The commission finance comittee has recommended the county cut back on the number of vehicles county employees can take home, based on a proposal by Harmon. Anders voted against the measure.

In the Final Word segment Cortney Piper, an associate with SRW and Associates, joins 6 News political analyst George Korda to look back at the week in the news.

#1 County Employee Take Home Vehicles

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on August 11, 2009 - 1:11am.

The Commission Finance Committee is the only people got some sense!! There are still too many County Take-Home Vehicles!! The only employees to take these vehicles home should be only those who are on call or that they work that shift. I have known of many employees who use a work vehicle but always return it before going home. It is totally ridiculous of all the employees who still take County Vehicles home. They are no better than any one else who have to use their own vehicle to get to work and back with their own car.

There is too much free-handouts with the County Employees and it needs to stop..... I am sure for the vehicles that have already been turned in that the county has saved well in the thousands of dollars.
That is the citizens money you are taking advantage of.... It is time to get all the Vehicles turned back in to the Finance committee
and for goodness sake..... Commission Finance Committee.... get more involved and look a little deeper before letting anything like this happen again!!! This situation was completely out of control!
