TVA Inspector General's Report on Ash Spill; Knox Commission Censures Lambert
Broadcast Date: August 2, 2009

A bombshell came from the office of the TVA Inspector General this week when a final report on the Roane County ash spill was released. Inspector General Richard Moore concludes from the investigation that the spill could have been prevented.
Moore points to "red flags" that were raised over a long period of time that called for the need for safety modifications.
Despite internal memos dating back to 1985 and again in 2004, the report says TVA did nothing to change the way coal ash was stored.
Inspector General Moore discusses his report in the first segment.

Another big story of this week happened Tuesday when Knox County commissioners voted 12-5 to publicly reprimand or censure fellow commissioner Greg Lambert. The vote was in response to what some commissioners called "unruly behavior" exhibited during two public meetings of the Ridge, Slope and Hillside Development Task Force.
Commissioner Lambert joins Gene Patterson in the second segment to share his side of this controversy.
Then in the Final Word, 6 News political analyst George Korda and Kelvin Moxley, from the Tennessee Conservative Union, offer their opinions on the Knox County Commission's vote to censure Greg Lambert.
