Effort to Recall Knox Law Director; State Sen. Andy Berke
Broadcast Date: June 21, 2009

There was much talk but little action this week concerning Knox County Law Director Bill Lockett.
Wednesday was the five-day deadline set by county commissioners for Lockett to resign after he admitted to taking money from clients and not passing the money on to his now-former law firm.
Lockett issued a statement, essentially saying he couldn't say anything, but he didn't resign.
Commissioners can begin an ouster, but by Friday that had not been initiated.
Some interested citizens are taking on the issue. They say they're planning a recall effort in September. Under the Knox County Charter, an elected official must be in office for at least a year before a recall can be started.
Tamara Shepherd and Peter Crary are two of the people behind the recall effort and they join Gene Patterson in the first segment.
Then Gene talks to state Sen. Andy Berke (D-Chattanooga), who at one time considered a run for governor.
In The Final Word, 6 News political analyst George Korda and political columnist Frank Cagle discuss news events of the week.
