Harlow Sumerford fills in this week for Gene Patterson.

President Obama pushed his plan for health care reform during a news conference and an ABC News special this week. Harlow's first guest was recently appointed by the president to promote health care reform, along with other state legislators.

State Rep. Joe Armstrong (D-Knoxville) explains the tasks ahead for the group of state legislators supporting health reform. He also talks about some of the successes and failures of the just-completed legislative session.

Knox County commissioners once again wrestled with issues surrounding county Law Director Bill Lockett. Commissioners Amy Broyles and Mike Brown discuss the steps they're taking to oust him from office.

In the Final Word segment, 6 News political analyst George Korda and Cortney Piper, of SRW and Associates, continue the week's debate on health care reform with a debate of their own.

#1 Health Care Reform

Ask George how much he pays for health insurance. Yes, he, like those with low cost insurance, don't want to change. I sell insurance, but can't sell individual or small group health insurance because of the cost. I want it to be afordable enough that I can find buyers. I don't want the government to take over the system, but there is too much disparity between those benefiting from the system and those using the system. I am also a small business. People owning their small business are seeing their spouses go back to work or change jobs later in life just to have reasonable health insurance available. Medical insurance premiums can vary as much as 10 times based on your health, the size of your group, etc. George, letting people die because they can't get dialisis happens in this country too, just not to the rich.
