Bredesen's Budget Proposal
Broadcast Date: March 29, 2009

Gov. Phil Bredesen unveiled his proposed budget this week. It contains billions of dollars in federal stimulus money that will cover the state's current billion-dollar deficit. The stimulus money provides funds for programs, particularly in higher education, that had been destined for the chopping block.
But the governor also says the stimulus money "is not a silver bullet," but merely buys the state time to make some tough decisions.
State representatives Joe Armstrong (D-Knoxville) and Ryan Haynes (R-Knoxville) join Gene Patterson in the first two segments to talk about the governor's proposal and other issues.
Then, Cortney Piper, of SRW and Associates, and Kelvin Moxley, with the Tennessee Conservative Union, talk about a variety of issues in the week's news.
