Vote Against Controversial Home for Homeless; Rep. Lincoln Davis
Broadcast Date: November 22, 2009

Knox County commissioners spent much of their time this week debating the purchase of a piece of property off Debusk Lane. At issue was whether the property was suitable to build a residential complex for some of Knox County's chronically homeless.
The commission is on record supporting a 2007 city-county initiative to end chronic homelessness in the next decade. It's also on record in support of putting housing complexes for the homeless around the county and not concentrated in one area.
Ultimately, the proposal for funding the Debusk project failed 15-4. The vote left the developers scratching their heads but vowing to return with new options.
Commissioner Mike Hammond, who voted against funding for this site, and Commissioner Mark Harmon, who voted for it, discuss the reasons behind their votes and what remains to be done to end chronic homelessness.
In the second segment, Gene Patterson has a conversation with Rep. Lincoln Davis. The Democratic congressman from Tennessee's Fourth District shares his thoughts on healthcare, terrorist trials and Afghanistan.
Then, 6 News political analyst George Korda and Ackerman Public Relations executive Mike Cohen join Gene for a final word on this week's news.
