278th Deploys to Iraq; Business Leaders Push for Climate and Energy Legislation
Broadcast Date: February 7, 2010

This week's program begins with Gene Patterson and 6 News Reporter Jamie Lynn Drohan at Camp Shelby, Miss. They were there Friday for the send-off ceremony for Tennessee Army National Guard's 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment. More than 3,000 men and women soldiers of the 278th, which is based in Knoxville, are headed for a tour of duty in Iraq.
Jamie Lynn shows how the soldiers have prepared for their mission. Then Gene talks to Major Alan Mingledorff about how this deployment compares with the mission of the 278th deployment in 2004.
Earlier this week, several business leaders from East Tennessee traveled to Washington and joined hundreds of others from across the country to push for new climate and energy legislation.
In the second segment, Harlow Sumerford has a conversation with two members of Tennessee Business Leaders for a Clean Energy Economy, Beth Eason, of Elizabeth Eason Architecture, and Dan Hurst, with Strata-G.
Then Harlow is joined by 6 News political analyst George Korda and Cortney Piper with SRW and Associates for the Final Word. One of the topics they discuss is the Tea Party convention in Nashville and the race that's shaping up for Knox County mayor.
