Tim Burchett
Broadcast Date: May 9, 2010

State Sen. Tim Burchett pulled off a victory of epic proportions in the Knox County May primary election. Billed as a battle of political heavyweights between Burchett and former sheriff Tim Hutchison, the outcome was anything but a fight.
Burchett received 85 percent of the vote in the Republican primary and now moves on to the August general election.
But the story doesn't end there. The day after the election, independent candidate Lewis Cosby announced he was dropping out of the race and threw his support behind Burchett, and not behind Democrat Ezra Maize.
Sen. Burchett joins Gene Patterson in today's show to talk about the election and look ahead to the issues in the upcoming campaign.
We hope to have Rev. Maize in an upcoming show to talk about his victory in the Democratic race.
In the Final Word, 6 News political analyst George Korda and SRW and Associates executive Cortney Piper share their thoughts on the election.
