It has been an eventful week for Governor-elect Bill Haslam. After rolling to a landslide victory over Democrat Mike McWherter, Haslam has begun the task of putting together his new leadership team.

Gene Patterson sat down with Haslam this week to get his thoughts on a number of issues.

Then, Gene is joined by members of our political panel in the Final Word segment, 6 News political analyst George Korda and Cortney Piper, of Piper Communications, an affilliate of SRW and Associates.

#1 2200 Jobs One Billion Dollars

Submitted by Ron L. Rathbone (not verified) on November 14, 2010 - 8:52pm.

I made several attempts to get the attention of WATE, WBIR, and WVLT as well as Bill Haslam and several other politicians.

I continue attempting to make contact with Bill Haslam regarding an Obama Reinvestment Act Federal Energy Grant for an Electric Motor vehicle battery cell manufacturing facility in East Ttennessee. It seems the 2200 jobs I have been trying to bring here since March 19, 2009 are not important. If so I would have had help from the local TV stations and state politicians.

Bill Haslam is brand new. Let's see if he will respond at all. If so you will here of the jobs. If not I will be going to another state soon.

As for the local TV stations; I am very dissapointed in their individual responses over the last six months that I have emailed them and called them asking for help. The response has been about the same as the State's political officials since March 19, 2009.

I also appreciate the comments from Bill Haslam about 20 year olds maiking up the majority of the campaign activist. That is great but there is a hughe maturity issue. I have run into this constantly while trying to get time with Bob Corker who I had thirty seconds with Thursday at Pellissippi Community College. We will see. It is just 2200 jobs,

You can also see the story at this blog post on these sites by Ron Rathbone. BTW: I am NOT Republican or Democrat and through personal experience to date, I know who the problem is with the lack of jobs in the country.

Tennessee politicians blocking 2200 jobs that would be created through the Obama Reinvestment Act. Somebody help me here.

first, I want to say that I'm a Haslam supporter. It was clear from the beginning that he was the one to beat and although I don't think he was the "best" candidate, it was hard for anyone else to match the money. I'm disappointed that Gene was over the top in his interview --"tickled" that Bill won! are you interviewing for a job in Nashville? Knoxville is a very protected environment for Bill, so I don't think we know how he will do as Governor - other than the fact that he is a nice man. I'm not going to judge him yet, but I hope the media in Knoxville takes their blinders off and will judge him honestly without thinking about his last name.. thank you.

Eleanor, you definitely pegged this guy Gene.

I supply broadcst news media internationally.and the corporate owner of this station is a very good client. Irecently spoke with them regarding the definite bias of the local news media. Bias has NO place in the news and I hope this is resolved.

It is a shame that mykey words in my subject lines to these three local stations and my telephone calls to them included the words, "2200 jobs one billion dollars through Elected Presdident Obama's Reinvestment Act Federal Energy Grant for an Electric Motor vehicle Battery Cell Manufacturing Facility here in East Tennessee are being blocked by politicians here" and to date, I haveI received no response to any of the emails or telephone calls to these stations. .
