Broadcast Date: August 27, 2011
Rebroadcast: August 28, 2011

It was an extraordinary week for University of Tennessee athletics and its many supporters. In a span of just 24 hours several major stories unfolded.
First, we found out that Pat Summitt has early onset dementia. The Lady Vols basketball coach announced the news herself.
Then the NCAAA went public with its findings in a year-long investigation of UT's football and basketball programs. Among the penalties announced, former men's basketball coach Bruce Pearl was handed a three year show-cause punishment.
And finally, the on-going saga of defensive star Janzen Jackson came to an end this week with an announcement from head football coach Derek Dooley that he had kicked Jackson off the football team.
Joining Gene Patterson to put the past week in perspective are 6 Sports Director Jim Wogan and Associated Press reporter Beth Rucker.
Later, the pundits panel looks at other stories in the news this week, including the surprise announcement that the on-again off-again status of a new Carter Elementary School was, at least for now, off again. 6 News political analyst George Korda and Cortney Piper of Piper Communications join Gene to consider what will happen next.
