Response to Largest Outage in KUB History
Broadcast Date: July 2, 2011
Rebroadcast: July 3, 2011

The sound of chainsaws has been heard in many East Tennessee neighborhoods for the past couple of weeks as residents clear their way out of downed trees and power lines. The severe weather that hit our area also caused disruptions in power service on a scale not experienced before.
Knoxville Utilities Board was challenged by the largest power outage in the company's history. More than 127,000 customers were without power at one point.
KUB Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Bill Elmore discusses how the utility responded to get its residential and business customers reconnected.
Then the Pundits Corner gathers to discuss some of the top stories in this past week's news, including the Loudon County Commission vote on a 20 cent increase in property taxes and some of the new laws that took effect on July 1.
This week's panelist are 6 News political analyst George Korda, political columnist Frank Cagle, and Metropulse Managing Editor Jessee Mayshark.
