Rep. Bill Dunn
Broadcast Date: March 12, 2011
Rebroadcast: March 13, 2011

An effort to ban collective bargaining for teachers has drawn most of the headlines of this state legislative session, but there are other teacher-related bills facing lawmakers.
Last week, state senators approved the governor's proposal to extend from three to five years the time required for teachers to gain tenure. That bill was co-sponsored by Knoxville Senator Jamie Woodson. It also creates a mechanism to fire teachers, even with tenure, if they receive unsatisfactory evaluations two years in a row.
The tenure bill is expected to go to the House floor in the next couple of weeks, where it is co-sponsored by Gene Patterson's first guest, State Rep. Bill Dunn, a Republican from Knoxville.
Later, Gene is joined in the Pundits Corner by 6 News political analyst George Korda, Cortney Piper of Piper Communications, and Metropulse Managing Editor Jesse Mayshark.

Courtney needs to get her facts updated, the U.S. has more oil than the middle east combined. When Pres Bush released the drilling in the gulf, oil prices dropped dramatically immediately. It is always about supply and demand.
Thank you.
