The 107th General Assembly pre-convening in Nashville approved some redrawn maps for the State House and Senate districts, plus the U.S. congressional districts.

Rep. Chuck Fleischmann of Tennessee's 3rd congressional district is Gene Patterson's guest this week. His district will see some dramatic changes as it shifts with the redistricting plan.

Later, Gene is joined by former Knoxville City Council member Marilyn Roddy, Cortney Piper of Piper Communications, and Craig Griffith, who was a deputy to former Knoxville Mayor Victor Ashe.

#1 no camera operators in the studio

Submitted by larry pennington (not verified) on January 17, 2012 - 6:20pm.

The only comment that stayed with me after the show of the 15th, was Mr Patterson's comment about camera operators...
Is it true that there are no stage personnel operating the cameras?
This hit me hard, if I heard him right.

Why is it that Obama talks about jobs, and Republicans offer a better job environment---
When every business is trying to eliminate jobs as fast as possible?

I have friends that were camera operators as volunteers.
When any of them got a paying job in media, it was a dream come true.
Business wants to eliminate dreams.
"Find another dream" isnt the answer.

There's just no economic or personal hope.

#2 Robotics

Submitted by admin on January 17, 2012 - 6:28pm.

The cameras are now operated remotely through robotic controls. While it is true this has eliminated a need for some jobs, WATE was able to make some staff reductions through normal attrition, and also train and place others into new positions.
